My non-contemporary mind

I do not know what it exactly is, but it seems as if I am not living a very modern, 21st century lifestyle like how should be living. I don't worship or value technology, the entertainment industry, and the media altogether, but instead value the nature of literature, education and surplus amounts of knowledge- I just want to learn and know about things more and more. And because I live like this, I feel impotent and ignored by my schoolmates and people I have met, due to my very dull and serene nature. I do not partake in many conversations, because i find some to be very meaningless in context, and some to be of a very unorthodox nature ( there are always people talking in their own forms of language, like newspeak). The people of the 20th century are more advanced than me, and own various forms of techology such as the Ipod, Blackberry, and so forth and they use it for very different reasons and purposes. Phones are meant to talk to people distant from you, and Ipods should be used to listen to music, but the majority of people use them to watch videos, and text or play games. The library is a place for studying and reading, yet many people still waste their pitiful lives talking about nonsense things, and playing games on the internet. I wish for an era where people would just put down their remotes, their phones and Ipods and games, and instead open a book, enjoy the content of the book, and unleash their vivacious imaginations.

If people were a bit more considerate about their health, and less on technology, cars, and new brands of clothings, they'd be more beneficial in the end. If people were to value education, knowledge and work ethic a bit more, they would possibly end up with fewer nuisances in the end. If people valued true friendships and not popularity contests, they would make more and more friends who actually care about them and see their overall viewpoints. Right now, I see war, poverty and so many other acts of negligence, and am truly disgusted in nature. If people were to only use the technology they have for good and if they were to use them in a more meaningful manner, the world would be a better place.
